Wendy Coetzee set up The Foundations Consultancy in 2013 as an independent practice, from which to share her psychological knowledge and expertise to help children and families with psychological difficulties. TFC brings together Clinical Psychologists with extensive experience in the NHS with a specialism in working with children with complex emotional and behavioural difficulties. Wendy works with a variety of other colleagues, practices and professionals to bring a holistic approach to ensuring children and families can access the full range of treatments.

Dr Wendy Coetzee, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, (BSc (hons), D.Clin.Psych, CPsychol)

Wendy has worked in the NHS since 1996, gaining a variety of clinical experience in a number of different child and adolescent settings. She completed her Clinical Psychology Doctorate training at Leicester University and has worked in the NHS in a CAMHS Service (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) since  1999. As a Senior Clinical Psychologist within the Coventry and Warwickshire CAMHS Service Wendy developed a particular interest in working with adolescents with trauma based difficulties and their families.

Wendy was one of the lead Clinicians involved in developing a specialist CAMHS Looked After Children’s team in Warwickshire. During this time Wendy developed and delivered extensive training programmes to foster carers and adoptive parents using a specialist package based on Dr Kim Golding’s Fostering Attachments course. Professionals such as teachers, social workers, family support workers and other health professionals have benefited from Wendy’s training and guidance.

Wendy has undertaken an extensive training with Dr Kim S. Golding, Clinical Psychologist alongside attending regular DDP study days. She receives regular supervision from Dr Kim Golding. Wendy is also trained in DDP (Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy) completing level 1 and 2 with Kim Golding and Dan Hughes. Since this time Wendy has continued to develop her DDP skills in practice with children, adolescents and their parents.

After 20 years of NHS experience Wendy moved into work in the private sector taking up the role of Clinical Director at Horizon Care and Education Group in 2015 where she has been developing a unique therapeutic service for the children and adolescents within the organisation.

As a fully accredited Supervisor, Wendy offers Clinical Supervision to Colleagues in Clinical Psychology including qualified Clinical Psychologists, Clinical Psychology trainees and Assistant Psychologists as well as other professional groups. She also provides teaching on the Doctoral Course in Clinical Psychology at Coventry University and the Masters Course at Warwick University, and supervises trainees from these courses. Wendy is registered with the Health Care Professions Council as a Practitioner Psychologist and is a Chartered Clinical Psychologist with the British Psychological Society as well as a member of the Division of Clinical Psychology.
